My Skin Care Breakdown

Hi friends! – I’ve gotten a series of questions from you all asking about my skincare routine and what is my secret to good skin.

Let me just start off by saying my skin has its ups and downs. Theres moments where is on its A game and she’s as smooth as a babies butt and there’s moments (when I’m pmsing) when she just breaks-down on me. But in general, this is my skincare breakdown!

Cleanser : I’ve got a rotation of cleansers that I use because I believe every cleanser has its purpose. I believe the skin can get very used to one face wash which is when it stops showing the best results.

  1. Skin Resources Pore Cleansing Face Wash: this is my go too. It’s gentle but gets deep into my pores and gives me a squeaky clean wash. I usually use this face wash every morning because it’s gentle enough for a cleansing after a nights sleep.
  2. Dermalogica Microdermabrasion Scrub: I have this scrub in the shower! I usually use this if I’ve worn make up a lot recently and I need a good cleanse and scrubbing. It’s gentle enough to use everyday. I also take this with me when I travel because I tend to break out on trips and this zaps down pimples.
  3. Tula Purifying Face Cleanser: This cleanser comes in a creamy texture and leaves my face feeling so soft and moisturized. If you’re looking for face wash thats more moisturizing with little foam, this is it! I also have this in my shower for mornings when I don’t want to over strip my face.
  4. Skin Resources Crystal Exfoliant Scrub: This is another really amazing scrub that is a bit more heavy duty. I use it once every other week when I need a deeper clean.

Toner : I find a toner to be super important to my skincare routine. I find it to help prep my skin and this is also the step where you can get as much conditioning and care into those pores before you pile on the serums and creams.

  1. Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner: This is the perfect toner for those just starting out. It is gentle for all skin types but also helps with moisture. I spray this toner directly on my face and don’t use a cotton ball for it. It comes out in a bubbly texture and it absorb quickly!
  2. Dr. Roebucks Skin Brightening Toner: I use this toner when my skin is looking dull and needs a pick me up! It has aloe vera and witch hazel in it which I love. I use this when I feel my skin needs a pick me up.
  3. Rose Water: Yup. Nothing like good old all natural rose water. I buy the ones that are from a grocery store that are edible. Not the ones with alcohol and fragrance in them. The raw version of it really helps with irritation and I love wearing this at bed-time!

Serum : This is where your treatments go. Anything you want to target or layer under your moisturizer goes here.

  1. Dr. Roebucks Firming Serum: This is a good serum for someone who needs a touch more hydration. It really plumps up your skin starting day 1. I got my mom her own bottle and she loves it just as much as I do.
  2. Derma.e Acne Control Treatment Serum: I use this serum right after a facial or if I feel my skin is having a tough time. It has a touch of Active Salicylic Acid and takes down blemishes right away. Plus its super affordable and a great way to get get your skin on track if your more acne prone.
  3. Volition Mushroom Water Serum: The reviews behind this product are true. It really is amazing. I love to use this as an everyday face serum because its so gentle but effective. If you didn’t know, mushroom hold water, which is where this product works. The serum holds the moisture in your skin which allows deeper hydration.

Moisturizer : The top coat of all skincare! This needs to go on last because it is the protective seal that holds in all your serums & treatments.

  1. Biossance Squalane + Probiotics Gel Moisturizer: What an amazing moisturizer. I love that it comes in a form of a gel. It feels amazing going on and really sinks into my skin and keep me looking fresh. I actually just finished a tub of it and will be reordering! I think its great for the summer on days that you get easily oily and you want the moisture but no extra shine. Only thing is that it is a tub where you have to put your fingers in so make sure your hands are clean!
  2. Skin Resources Oil Free Moisturizer: I’ve been using this for a while now and I love that it is oil free. My pores tend to clog up easily so anything oil free is allowed in my books. It’s gentle but moisturizing. I don’t need anything heavy at this age that will suffocate my pores and this is a staple everyday moisturizer! And it’s only $12.
  3. Hydraluron Intense Moisture Lotion: I saw results with my dryness instantly when using this. It comes in a compact tube and because it’s gentle for all skin types, I love to carry this with me when I travel. Plus it’s only $24.
  4. Skinesque Lock- In Moisture Cream: I love to use this cream in the evening right before bed. It really helps seal in all my products and the texture is like mochi. It feels amazing going on and it pretty price affordable with the amount of product you get out of the bottle.

Eye Cream :

  1. Eysilix II Multi-Action Eye Treatment: This eye treatment really plumps up my under eye area. I saw results within a few days and I looked more awake. The pricing is great and it comes in a spreadable formula which doesn’t tug at your skin.
  2. Dermalogica Biolumin Eye Serum: This eye serum is a bit pricey but I find the investment worthy. It comes in a serum form and really soaks into your eye area giving the skin elasticity and moisture. Plus, I don’t mind the investment because a little goes a long way with this product.

Oil :

  1. Beauty Counter Brightening Vitamin C Oil: She smells like a ripe orange freshly picked off a tree. This vitamin c oil is different than alll the others I’ve tried. It smells amazing. Goes on like a dry oil so it sinks in rather than sitting on the surface.
  2. Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil: One of the best oils around! She is a bit pricy but this oil is amazing. I layer this under my make up to give me a dewy natural look. It soaks in quickly and makes my skin look amazing. When I was in Greece, I layered this under my sunscreen and bronzer to give me the perfect vacation glow.

Face Masks :

  1. Aztec Clay Mask: will always be my #1. It is a game changer for my big pores. Makes my skin feel and look brand spanking new. One 1 lb tub will last you over a year and it’s only $8.
  2. Summer Fridays Overtime Mask: This mask is quite enjoyable to use. I have it in my shower so while I’m waiting for my conditioner to set, I scrub my face and let the mask sit for a few minutes with the help of the shower steam.
  3. Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Mask: Such a good mask. I do this mask if I spend a lot of time in the sun, just got back from vacation, or had a stressful work week. It really penetrates and helps soften your skin. Plus it kinda smells like yogurt, which I don’t mind. Really gives you silky smooth skin!

Daytime Routine Steps:

  • First start with washing your face with a cleanser.
  • Apply a toner once your face has dried ( I prefer letting it air dry. it teaches your skin to absorb moisture)
  • Apply your eye cream! This step always goes first before any other products.
  • Now layer on your serum or treatment.
  • If you choose to layer on an oil, you can apply it here.
  • Finish with a moisturizer! This is the protective seal that locks in everything you have just applied.

Evening Routine:

  • First start with washing your face with a cleanser.
  • Apply a toner once your face has dried ( I prefer letting it air dry. it teaches your skin to absorb moisture)

Thats it. Nothing else after that.

I used to layer on serums and moisturizers at night but I noticed my skin was suffocating and causing build up. For those of us who sleep on our side or on our stomachs, your spending 8 hours pressing your face into a pillow, sweating, or moving around, and all that product is just being sullied.

I go to bed with a clean face and wash it in the morning to apply my products!

I hope this helped a lot with anyone who had questions about my routine! xx
